Following is a summary of the Educational Ministries offered by the Ministry of Christian Education of our church. Pastor Gray, Rev. Anthony Pearson (Minister of Christian Education), the Christian Education Executive Ministry (CEEM), ministry leaders and members cordially invite you to come and be a part of these opportunities to advance the Kingdom of God. Save Our Sons And Daughters (SOSAD)

 

Mission Statement: To provide a nurturing and spiritual environment to all that are suffering from the death of loved ones. To promote an atmosphere with the help and trust in God that we all will be delivered from the hurt and bondage of our pain. (We believe) that the pain of death will be swallowed up in victory and that the Lord will wipe away the tears from our faces. A healing process will come forth through faith, love, and a purpose to renew our strength by helping to minister to others.

The Love Living Ministry

 

Mission Statement: The Love Living Ministry (LLM) is a support group which provides Christian fellowship, companionship, and educational programs to persons who are experiencing chronic or life-threatening illnesses and to their care-givers. The ministry will seek to equip and assist the members to make informed health care decisions and to encourage them to live each day to the fullest through an abiding faith in God, prayer, love, hope and joy. Living Single With Children (LSWC)

 

Mission Statement: Toprovide a Christian support system for custodial and non­custodial parents and to gain valuable information on single parenting issues and concerns.

 

Topics include: Strengthening parenting skills; managing finances; creatively and educationally leading and directing our children; fulfilling our roles as Christian mothers and fathers


Meeting Date(s) and Times:

The2nd  and 4th Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Omega Room.

 

 

  

Tuesday Morning Prayer and Bible Study

 

Mission Statement: Toincrease our knowledge of God through in-depth Bible Study, and to provide an opportunity for Mid-week worship and fellowship.

 

Meeting Day and time: Every Tuesday morning from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Chapel.

 

Teacher:   Rev. Anthony Pearson

 

 

Wednesday Evening (Midweek Prayer and Bible Study)

 

Mission Statement: Toprovide a mid-week opportunity for persons to engage in worship, Bible Study and fellowship.  Opportunities for diversified studies are held several times yearly.  For more information on current study series, contact Rev. Anthony Pearson, Minister of Education

 

Meeting Day and Time: Every Wednesday evening, from 7-8:30 p.m.

 

Teachers:  PastorGray or a substitute

 

 

Girl Scouts

 

Mission Statement: To provide opportunities for social, spiritual, and emotional growth for girls in our congregation and community. This ministry includes Daisies, Brownies, a Cadet and Senior Cadet, and Junior troops for girls beginning at age 5. Current troop membership is about fifty active girls.

 

Meeting Day and Time: Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the EducationBuilding

 

 

Boy Scouts/Cub Scouts

 

Mission Statement: To provide opportunities for recreational, social, and religious growth for males in our congregation and community through Scouting, USA. Our church is proud of our Boy Scout troop, which is the oldest continually active African American troop in the city and one of the oldest in the nation.

 

Meeting Date and Time: Troop 476 and Cub Scout Pack 476 both meet on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. in the Education building.

 

 

VacationBibleSchool

Annually held during the forth week of July

 

 

ChurchSchool

 

Mission Statement:  To provide opportunities for the systematic study of God’s Word in a structured setting.  Classes for all ages. Currently, the majority of the church school uses the Urban Ministries, Inc. lesson series at the 9:30 hour on Sunday mornings. Currently, other opportunities for studies are:


 
*Agape (Men’s) Bible Class: Serial study of the Scriptures from the New Oxford Connotated Study Bible

 *Couples Class:  Cultivating A Heart of Contentment”

*Harambee Class:  Meets on Wednesday evenings at 6 pm.

*Discovery Zone:  A church school class for children ages 3-8 that meets from 11:30-12:30 on Sunday mornings
